Alan Pardee Announces Bid for New York’s 12th Congressional District
New York, NY - Democrat Alan Pardee announced this morning he is running for New York’s 12th Congressional District, aiming to succeed Rep. Jerry Nadler who is retiring at the end of this term. Pardee was born and raised in a family with an immigrant story in New York City, built a successful career in finance, and has helped to combat hunger and food insecurity in every corner of the city.
“As the son of an immigrant and a lifelong New Yorker, I know what the promise of this city means. And, I’ve seen firsthand how the cost of everything from food to housing has put that promise out of reach for far too many,” said Pardee. “Career politicians and hand-picked insiders aren’t going to fix that. I’ve spent my life rolling up my sleeves and getting things done for people who need it most - and that’s what I’ll do in Congress."
Pardee is the son of a Dominican immigrant, born and raised in Manhattan, growing up on New York’s Upper East Side. He’s led a successful career in finance, helping to build successful businesses and helping them create tens of thousands of good paying jobs right here in the city and around the country. Pardee knows how to work with teams of people to achieve common-sense solutions for tough problems.
Throughout his life, Pardee has worked to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing his community - especially those surrounding issues of hunger and food insecurity that impact one in three New Yorkers. Alan has been an active volunteer and board member for New York Common Pantry, where he’s helped to raise millions of dollars and helped to support programs that reduce hunger while promoting dignity, health and self-sufficiency for every New Yorker.
“Whether it's housing, health care or the cost of groceries, we need policies that make our city livable for all families,” concluded Pardee.
Alan and his wife Sally are the proud parents of two, raising their family just blocks from where Alan grew up. Alan is an active member of his church and regularly sings in a choir on Sundays in addition to being an active member of its social justice ministry.
